Evelyn Oquendo

Director / Food Services

A native of Puerto Rico, Evelyn Oquendo came to the U.S. as a child, settling first in Wilmington Delaware and then moving to Worcester, Massachusetts with her family in 1984.  She worked at the Jewish Nursing Home as Dietary Manager from 1984-1996.  While working fulltime she completed studies at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester and was certified as a nursing assistant.  She also worked at St. Francis Nursing Home in Worcester for two years.  Evelyn joined the Campion team in 1996, first as a Dietary Manager for fourteen years and then became the Director of Food Services in 2010.

Evelyn brings a positive attitude and energetic spirit to her role of providing superior, creative and nutritious meals to all living and working at or who visit Campion.  Together with her staff, Evelyn has made the dining experience in the bistros and main dining room a warm, inviting place to dine and enjoy the fellowship of others.

Evelyn is certified in ServSafe and ServSafe Allergen. In 2011 she attended the Leading Age Academy of Massachusetts, which focuses on manager training, budgeting and leadership and received a Certificate of Achievement.

Recognizing the importance of overall health with the interface of diet, nutrition and exercise, Evelyn is a certified instructor in Zumba, Toning, Step, and Turbo Kick Boxing, and she teaches specialty classes in each of these and has even done so at Campion.  Evelyn has used these talents to raise funds for suicide prevention, homelessness, finding a cure for cancer, and the relief effort for the victims of Hurricane Maria.
