Born in Pittsburg Pennsylvania and raised in Windsor Connecticut, Campion’s new Dietitian, Laura Estan, has been a professional Nutritionist/Registered Dietitian for 35 years and achieved the Specialist credential of Certified Diabetes Educator in 2017. She is a graduate of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford Connecticut. Laura started working in the dietary department of a 180-bed skilled nursing facility when she was 16 years old, then became a cook, which led to her studying to become a dietitian! You may hear her say she “grew up in a nursing home” because she has been helping the staff at the facility where her Mother and Aunt were the Director of Nursing and the Administrator since she was 12 years old!
Laura’s career has included food service management of hospitals and healthcare facilities as well as assisted living communities. She taught 8th grade Family & Consumer Science in Westfield for 8 years then supported the inmates in the Massachusetts Correctional system as well as clients in a community based psychiatric facility and methadone clinic. Most recently she provided Diabetes Coaching for private Insurance company members and pharmaceutical companies.
When at home, Laura enjoys gardening, walking the beach in Nantasket, playing with her grandchildren or creating quilts, jewelry and other crafts!
As a Nutritionist, Laura specializes in diabetes self-management and At-risk medical nutritional therapy. She is committed to forming relationships with people seeking a new approach to optimal wellness through a mindful awareness. She uses motivational techniques that are individualized to empower those she cares for to make gradual, successful, and life-enhancing health changes. Laura is here to support our Jesuit Community and Residents’ quality of life.
Laura’s message to everyone is “Let’s start building a healthier and more holistic lifestyle together in 2022!
